The Australian Flying Disc Association Limited (AFDA) is the recognised national sporting organisation responsible for flying disc sports in Australia. Flying Disc sports continue to grow in popularity and uptake in Australia, with the current registered Ultimate player base exceeding 10,000 and over 100,000 school student participants. Ultimate and Disc Golf attract millions globally and Australia has strong representation in international tournaments.
AFDA organises a number of national tournaments throughout the year, with the next major events being the Australian Ultimate Championship Tournaments (Events) as detailed in Schedule 1. For a full listing of the Australian national ultimate championship tournaments being held in 2025 please refer to the events calendar on the AFDA website.
AFDA requires an external organisation to carry out the televised production (including video recording, commentary, live streaming and online hosting) of the Events (the Services). AFDA is therefore calling for expressions of interest from reputable service providers to carry out the Services in a professional, high quality and timely manner.
Selection and Eligibility Criteria
Interested Service Providers must be able to evidence the following:
prior experience with similar tournaments or other sporting codes that reflects ability to successfully carry out the Services at the standard required;
technical capacity to ensure internet connection and broadcast quality for live streaming despite AFDA being unable to guarantee electricity or internet access at all event sites;
- ability to deliver the on-site Services in accordance with the professional standards set out in Schedule 2;
- maintenance of public liability insurance cover for a minimum value of AUD20 million, valid for the entire term of the Services;
- maintenance of workers compensation insurance covering all staff involved in service provision in the State in which the Services will be delivered;
- name and contact details for at least one past or current client who can act as referee to confirm capability and delivery expertise.
As a national sporting organisation AFDA follows Sports Integrity Australia’s National Integrity Framework and takes its commitment to integrity in sport very seriously. All flying disc participants, employees, volunteers and contractors (including external event service providers) are expected to confirm alignment with AFDA’s integrity commitment and agree to be bound by AFDA’s integrity policies and code of conduct (publicly available on the AFDA website). As a result, prospective services providers must meet the following eligibility criteria:
(i) continued compliance with AFDA’s integrity policies and Code of Conduct, each of which will be referenced and acknowledged as binding in the Service Agreement to be entered into between the selected service provider and AFDA;
(ii) ability to ensure that any service provider personnel or staff member involved in the provision of the Services will:
a. have a current, valid and clean working with children’s check from their state of residence;
b. read, understand and comply with AFDA’s integrity policies and Code of Conduct; and
c. complete the following Sports Integrity Australia (SIA) online courses prior to commencement of the Events listed in Schedule 1:
i. Safeguarding Children and Young People Fundamentals; and
ii. Competition Manipulation and Sport Gambling
Expression of Interest Submission
Interested service providers are encouraged to submit their proposal in writing to Sharon Butty at sharon.butty@afda.com.au by 5pm Wednesday 18 December 2024. Submissions should include the following information:
- evidence of ability to meet the selection and eligibility criteria noted above;
- name and contact details of the Service Provider team/project lead; and
- proposed service fee and structure for delivery of the Services.
Late submissions will not be accepted and review of submissions will take place once the submission closure date has passed. AFDA’s acceptance (or acknowledgment of receipt) of a submission does not constitute a binding service agreement. After considering all received submissions it is AFDA’s intention to appoint the successful service provider in early 2025 with a written service agreement to be entered into between the successful service provider and AFDA by mid-February 2025.
AFDA reserves the right to change the service provider selection timeline in its sole discretion.
While the Services sought in this Expression of Interest Call relate only to the two Events detailed in Schedule 1, AFDA reserves the right to negotiate exclusively with the selected service provider for AFDA events taking place thereafter.
For questions or discussion about this call for expressions of interest prior to submission, please contact Sharon Butty at sharon.butty@afda.com.au or 0400 755 441.
